Art & History

The United States Capitol is more than 200 years old. Many important people have walked its halls, including John Quincy Adams and Abraham Lincoln. It is also home to many beautiful and important works of art, such as paintings and statues.

One of the Capitol's most famous rooms is Statuary Hall. Before the current House Chamber was finished, Members of the U.S. House of Representatives met here. It is now home to part of the National Statuary Hall Collection. The collection contains 100 statues. Two statues are given by each state to honor its most important people.
